Everything You Need to Know About Meningitis

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF MENINGITIS?

At children over 2 years and adults with meningitis occur following signs and symptoms:

  • Stiff neck;
  • Photophobia (sensitivity to light);
  • Severe headache;
  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • High temperature;
  • Drowsiness;
  • Loss of appetite;
  • Convulsions;
  • Disturbance of consciousness;
  • Skin rash.

In infants and children up to 2 years of age may lack the classic signs and symptoms, and meningitis is manifested by:

  • Fever;
  • Constant crying;
  • Loss of appetite;
  • Stiffness of the neck and body;
  • Swelling / bulging area in the large fontanelle;
  • Excessive sleep;
  • Irritability;
  • Decreased activity;
  • Drowsiness;

Attention! There should not be presented all of the above symptoms to have meningitis.
