WHAT ARE THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF MENINGITIS?
At children over 2 years and adults with meningitis occur following signs and symptoms:
- Stiff neck;
- Photophobia (sensitivity to light);
- Severe headache;
- Nausea and vomiting;
- High temperature;
- Drowsiness;
- Loss of appetite;
- Convulsions;
- Disturbance of consciousness;
- Skin rash.
In infants and children up to 2 years of age may lack the classic signs and symptoms, and meningitis is manifested by:
- Fever;
- Constant crying;
- Loss of appetite;
- Stiffness of the neck and body;
- Swelling / bulging area in the large fontanelle;
- Excessive sleep;
- Irritability;
- Decreased activity;
- Drowsiness;
Attention! There should not be presented all of the above symptoms to have meningitis.
