Reunion Island

Réunion is a French overseas territory, with a population of about 800,000 inhabitants, located east of Madagascar and south-west of Mauritius, which is the nearest island. Swahili, Arab and Portuguese sailors have visited the island, but the French had colonized in 1665 year. Réunion is very similar to the Hawaiian Islands, both are located above the hot spots of the Earth’s crust. The highest volcano on the island is called Piton des Neiges, located at 3070 meters altitude. Even though the island is not known for pristine beaches and dazzling resorts such as Mauritius, the island still has a few sandy landscape beaches, despite nesting radiant blue sea and nightlife. But what  really attracts the island, it is the fantastic green nature and one of the most active volcanoes in the world, Piton de la Fournaise.
