Tomato gets its red color from lycopene, an antioxidant that makes up our skin more resistant to sunlight. According to the study performed in the UK, people who have in their nutrition some serving tomatoes a day, had 33 percent less chance of sunbathing to sunburn.

This research has shown that a nutrition which is rich with tomato enhances the production of collagen, which is important in the fight against dry and aging skin. Higher concentration of lycopene can be found in cooked tomatoes, and the body absorbs it better, and other sources of antioxidants can be found in red grapefruit and watermelon.
