Blue Lake or Rotomairewhenua in the Maori language, is a small, fresh lake in the National Park – Nelson Lake in the northern areas of Southern Alps in New Zealand. In a study conducted in 2011 by several visits by helicopter and special equipment, researchers at the NIWA, found that this lake has extreme visual clarity to optical breathtaking 80 meters, which is almost pure like a distilled water. The lake is characterized by blue-violet color, which can be seen only in the clearest natural waters. This lake gets water from the neighboring glacial Lake Constance, and the water passes through the dam formed by landslides.
